Learning Framework

Each student at Bhaktivedanta School (BVS) is privileged with a value-based education that helps them make better decisions; the capacity to think critically and creatively, to deal effectively with diversity and change, and to respond analytically and ingeniously to complex challenges. The school facilitates this journey with up-to-date learning framework delivered by experienced teachers of high caliber and moral standards.

At the Bhaktivedanta School we focus on a complete schooling approach, where students benefit from a familiar environment starting in Prep right through to the end of Year 6. This enables students to grow and learn with their peers in small classes with ample support, under the guidance of teachers and support staff who can cater to the student’s individual needs throughout the years, recognizing their individual strengths and encouraging them to work on their limitations. Our students will regularly interact with the local community through initiatives such as community service and local sporting activities on a supervised and safe platform.

At all levels at BVS, students are;

  • Encouraged to work cooperatively and take responsibility for their learning
  • Made aware of and appreciate our Indigenous culture
  • Developing confidence and positive habits for lifelong learning
  • Encouraged to participate and feel comfortable if mistakes are made
  • Provided timely feedback and feed forward
  • Guided by best practices within protective behaviour protocols
  • Inspired by staff members and our community connections
  • Supported to cultivate and practice the values embedded in the Australian National Curriculum

Although stemming from time honoured values, all teachings are as outlined by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).

Some of the Learning Tools used are Book Creator, Brain Pop, Reading Eggs, and Mathletics. These tools support both classroom teaching and as a delivery platform for learning resources, objects and services. The curriculum resources provided include course documents, slide-shows, educational videos, interactive quizzes and tutorials, discussion forums, surveys and access to academic databases.

The Bhaktivedanta School welcomes students from all walks of life, regardless of cultural, ethnic or spiritual background. It is a school for parents who want to give the best possible education to their children, so that they eventually grow and learn to balance responsibility and develop good character.

What We Offer

Top Educational Standards

  • We aim to create an education system with a strong spiritual foundation, in combination with contemporary research-based teaching practices integrated with the Australian curriculum.
  • All our teachers are fully qualified and registered as per the QLD education board’s requirements.
  • We have smaller teacher-student ratio to provide ample personal support and care for each student.
  • We enable children to become confident, articulate and motivated learners, and thus lay solid foundations for their future education, well-being and self-fulfilment.

Beautiful location

  • We aim at creating a serene school setting that is still easily accessible.

Vegetarianism

  • Pleasurable food education teaches children positive food habits through fun and hands-on learning. As per Harvard Medical School, eating a vegetarian diet is associated with a variety of health benefits. An important aspect of our ecological responsibility is respect for all life and promotion of good health in a very practical way through a balanced vegetarian diet.
  • With the support of staff and parents of our community, students are encouraged to cultivate vegetable gardens across the school. There are lessons on growing, harvesting and cooking healthy foods for students in Prep to Year 6. A purpose-built kitchen facilitates the cooking and serving of fresh vegetarian lunch to all students and staff every day.

Yoga and Mindfulness

  • Each child has access to yoga and mindfulness lessons. As per Aussie Child Care Network, when children practice yoga it increases their confidence, builds concentration and strengthens growing bodies.  Students at Bhaktivedanta School are empowered to learn powerful practices that help calm their mind and focus their efforts better in the classroom.

Partnering with Nature Play

  • Nature Play offers a wide range of resources in order to encourage outdoor learning which helps in emotional and social wellbeing of a child
